📖 ADHD & Sleep – Why Won’t My Brain Shut Down?

You know that feeling when you’re exhausted, but your brain is like: ‘Nope, let’s overthink every decision you’ve ever made instead’?Yeah… ADHD and sleep don’t mix.”

It’s always the same. I tell myself: ‘Tonight, I’ll sleep early.’ But suddenly, I’m deep into researching why octopuses have three hearts. And before I know it?  3 AM.

ADHD brains struggle with sleep because they don’t turn off like others do. It’s like my thoughts are all fighting to be heard at once.

What helps? The ‘Brain Dump’ trick. I grab a notebook and write everything down—random thoughts, worries, even things I don’t want to forget. Once it’s on paper, my brain stops holding onto it.

Instead of forcing myself to sleep, I trick my brain. I start a book I know will make me sleepy, or I listen to a low-energy podcast. No screens, just something to slow my thoughts down.

ADHD sleep struggles are real, but small tricks can help.

What’s your go-to sleep hack? I need all the help I can get!
